HIGH-QUALITY EEG STARTS AT THE ELECTRODE

Every EEG recording depends on the quality of the electrode. g.SCARABEO active EEG electrodes integrate a miniature preamplifier directly inside each electrode, reducing artifacts and interference before the signal travels through the cable. Compared to conventional passive electrodes, this provides more stable recordings, improved noise immunity, and reliable EEG acquisition, even in demanding high-density experiments. The active design minimizes artifacts caused by cable movement, electrode impedance, and 50/60 Hz power-line interference while eliminating the need for abrasive skin preparation.

Beyond signal quality, g.SCARABEO is designed to simplify high-density EEG workflows. Electrodes remain mounted inside the g.GAMMAcap between experiments, reducing preparation time, minimizing setup errors, and ensuring reproducible electrode layouts across studies. The compact electrode design supports dense channel configurations while fitting into removable holder rings that enable flexible positioning according to the international 10-10 system or custom electrode layouts.

Laboratories can prepare dedicated caps for different experiments, participant groups, or research protocols without repeatedly installing or removing electrodes. This improves consistency between recording sessions, accelerates participant preparation, and allows additional electrode positions to be added whenever required for specialized neuroscience and Brain-Computer Interface research.

RECORD THE BEST EEG DATA POSSIBLE

The g.SCARABEO EEG electrodes offer superior spatial and temporal resolution suitable for neuroscience investigations. The streamlined application process, affording the placement of 64 channels within approximately five minutes and facilitating the acquisition of artifact-free data, represents a significant enhancement in usability compared to alternative EEG systems. Timely electrode application is paramount to prevent subject fatigue prior to commencing the experiment.

Each individual EEG electrode incorporates an internal amplifier and a holder ring with a subdermal reservoir. This design feature ensures precise localization of g.GAMMAgel contacts on specific areas of the scalp, facilitating accurate recording and enabling extended recording durations without the need for reapplication.

AVAILABLE EEG CAP SIZES

High-quality EEG recordings start with a well-fitting cap. g.GAMMAcap is available in multiple sizes for infants, children, and adults, ensuring consistent electrode placement, stable scalp contact, and maximum participant comfort. The standardized sizing improves recording quality, reduces preparation time, and enables reproducible measurements across clinical studies, cognitive neuroscience, Brain-Computer Interface research, and longitudinal investigations involving participants of all ages.

g.GAMMACAP – FAST, REPRODUCIBLE EEG PREPARATION

g.GAMMAcap provides a flexible platform for active and passive EEG electrodes, supporting g.SCARABEO, g.SAHARA Hybrid, and g.LADYbird electrode technologies within the same cap. Laboratories can configure dedicated electrode layouts for specific experiments, allowing electrodes to remain permanently mounted inside the cap between recording sessions.

This significantly reduces participant preparation time, minimizes wiring errors, and ensures reproducible electrode positioning across studies. Caps are available for pediatric and adult participants and support both chin straps and chest belt fixation for stable recordings during laboratory and mobile neuroscience experiments.

Typical Brain-Computer Interface configurations can be prepared within only a few minutes, allowing researchers to spend less time on setup and more time collecting data.

g.GAMMACLIP – ACTIVE PHYSIOLOGICAL ELECTRODES

g.GAMMAclip extends the active electrode concept beyond EEG by enabling high-quality EMG, ECG, and EOG recordings using standard disposable adhesive electrodes. A miniature amplifier integrated directly inside the clip minimizes cable movement artifacts and electromagnetic interference before the signal reaches the amplifier.

The result is cleaner physiological recordings, faster preparation, and improved data quality in laboratory, clinical, rehabilitation, and hospital environments. Because the same active technology is used throughout the g.tec ecosystem, researchers can acquire synchronized EEG and physiological signals within one integrated platform.

DESIGNED FOR HIGH-QUALITY EEG RECORDINGS

Every component of the g.tec EEG ecosystem is engineered to maximize signal quality while minimizing preparation time and recording artifacts. From lightweight active electrodes and optimized EEG caps to dedicated connector boxes, the system is designed to deliver reliable, reproducible EEG recordings for Brain-Computer Interfaces, cognitive neuroscience, neurorehabilitation, clinical research, and high-density EEG.

The lightweight electrode design reduces movement-related artifacts during natural head motion, while optimized electrode spacing minimizes electrode bridging and improves recording reliability. Integrated active electronics reduce susceptibility to electromagnetic interference and cable movement artifacts without increasing electrode size or weight.

g.SCARABEO IN REAL-WORLD BCI & NEUROFEEDBACK RESEARCH

g.SCARABEO active EEG electrodes have been used in repeated, wearable Brain-Computer Interface recordings conducted during a 16-day neurofeedback and motor-imagery intervention. Researchers equipped a 32-channel g.Nautilus PRO Flexible system with g.SCARABEO electrodes to acquire EEG at 250 Hz and provide real-time videogame feedback based on the participants’ brain activity.

The study involved 29 participants and produced an openly available EEG and psychological assessment dataset for research on neurofeedback, motor imagery, decoding accuracy, and PTSD-related interventions. It demonstrates how g.SCARABEO supports reproducible multi-session EEG acquisition and real-time BCI workflows in applied research settings.

MORE THAN EEG: EMG, ECG & EOG RECORDINGS

g.SCARABEO is not limited to EEG acquisition. Using dedicated adhesive washers, the same active electrode technology can also record EMG, ECG, and EOG, allowing researchers to acquire brain activity and physiological signals within one synchronized platform.

Whether measuring muscle activation, cardiac activity, or eye movements, the integrated miniature preamplifier reduces movement artifacts and electromagnetic interference before the signal reaches the amplifier. This enables high-quality multimodal biosignal recordings for Brain-Computer Interfaces, neurorehabilitation, human performance, sleep research, cognitive neuroscience, and clinical research without changing the electrode technology or acquisition workflow.
