The active and passive g.LADYbird TMS electrodes are specifically designed for combined EEG and TMS recordings. These ultra-flat electrodes with 3 mm thickness are ideal for TMS-EEG setups, working seamlessly with the g.GAMMAcap³ or double-sided adhesive washers when used with g.GAMMAgel or conductive paste. The electrodes has 3 mm thickness and is therefore the thinnest on the market which allows to bring the TMS coil as close as possible to the brain.

The g.LADYbird TMS electrode is available as (i) active and (ii) passive version.

ACTIVE EEG ELECTRODES FOR TMS RECORDINGS

Unlike traditional electrodes, the g.LADYbird active EEG electrode include a high-quality amplifier inside, ensuring superior EEG signal capture with significantly reduced noise. These electrodes are connected to the active  electrode connector box TMS which is connected to the g.HIamp.  Their quick and easy mounting process further enhances the convenience of use, and extensive data from thousands of recordings demonstrate the g.LADYbird’s superior performance over other systems. The big advantage of the active version is that recordings can be done with much higher impedances compared to passive electrodes.

PASSIVE EEG ELECTRODES FOR TMS RECORDINGS

For TMS recordings, a passive version of the g.LADYbird electrode is available. Without electronic components inside, this version minimizes TMS stimulation artifacts, allowing for clean EEG recordings within milliseconds after a TMS pulse. For these electrodes abrasive gel must be used to lower the impedance to 1-5 kOhm.

Both versions use sintered Ag/AgCl electrode material to ensure optimal EEG data resolution from 0 to 10 kHz.

The electrodes are connected to the passive or the active electrode connector box of g.HIamp and the amplifier acquires the data into g.HIsys Professional where closed-loop experiments can be designed. The off-line processing package g.BSanalyze has specific algorithms for additional TMS artifact cleaning of the EEG data.

The active g.LADYbird TMS electrodes are ideal for combined EEG and TMS recordings due to their ultra-flat design, which reduces stimulation artifacts and ensures clean EEG signals within milliseconds of a TMS pulse. The electrodes are only 3 mm thick which allows to bring the coil as close as possible to the head. The EEG signal typically recovers 10 ms after the TMS pulse. Another significant benefit is that the electrodes remain inside the cap, making assembly and cleaning quicker and error-free.

 

 

PASSIVE g.LADYBIRD TMS ELECTRODES

The passive version of g.LADYbird TMS electrodes is designed without electronic components, allowing for a faster recovery time after a TMS pulse. A major advantage is that the electrode is only 3 mm thick, making it the slimmest on the market and enabling the coil to be positioned closer to the brain. This allows TMS pulses to activate brain regions with less energy, resulting in smaller artifacts. Another significant benefit is that the electrodes remain inside the cap, making assembly and cleaning quicker and error-free.

The g.GAMMAcap is optimized for use with g.LADYbird TMS electrodes, providing both comfort and quick mounting. Its flexible yet durable fabric includes 74 labeled standard positions (based on the extended 10-20 system) and 86 additional intermediate positions for easy electrode placement. Designed for various experiments like EPs and high-density brain mapping, it allows seamless integration with g.LADYbird electrodes. The cap includes options for a chest belt or chin straps, ensuring a secure fit during recordings.
