Brain-Computer Interface Workshop

General information

The Brain-Computer Interface research area is a fast expanding field in the world of biomedical engineering. BCIs have been developed during the last years for people with severe disabilities to improve their quality of life. Applications of BCI systems comprise the restoration of movements, communication and environmental control. However, recently BCI applications have been also used in different research areas e.g. in the field of virtual reality.

We invite you to this BCI Workshop on 17th of September 2008. This workshop should give you the chance, one day before the 4rd International Brain-Computer Interface Workshop and Training Course, to create your own BCI experiments and to learn more about g.tec's hard- and software products. This year a special focus will be on Virtual Reality control with the BCI.

Main topics

The workshop

  • gives insight into the hardware for BCI research: g.USBamp, g.BSamp, g.MOBIlab+
  • gives insight into the software for BCI research: MATLAB, Simulink, C API, BCI2000
  • enables you to run your own experiments
  • gives you the chance to analyze your BCI performance
  • shows how to control a smart home environment
  • shows avatar control with the BCI

Speaker

  • Christoph Guger, explains principles of BCIs
  • Franz Laundl, expert for real-time programming
  • Gunther Krausz, expert for EEG studies
  • Brendan Allison , Scientist @ University Bremen
  • Christoph Groenegress, Researcher @ Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya
  • Guenter Edlinger, expert for signal analysis

Additionally, workshop participants can take the opportunity to join a company tour.
