g.tec wins the European ICT Prize 2007

g.tec was nominated for this price with its Brain-Computer Interface platform. BCI is a new technology which allows to communicate just by thoughts! This means that a BCI system detects specific changes (in the Electroencephalogram or Electrocortigogram) during mental activity. These changes are transformed into a control signal to control e.g. a cursor on the screen.

The European ICT Prize (Information and Communication Technology) is organised by the European Council of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering. The price goes to innovations in the area of ICT and is also known as the "Technology Nobel Prize".

Ms. Viviane Reding (Member of the European Commission, Commissioner for Information Society and Media) awarded the price to Mr. Christoph Guger (CEO, g.tec) at CeBIT 2007 in Hannover.
