Sensor Overview

g.tec provides several sensors that allow to measure body functions simultaneously to EEG, ECG, EMG and EOG signals. Analog sensors can be combined with g.Recorder for data acquisition as well as visualization and with the High-Speed Online Processing toolbox for real-time parameter extraction.

g.GSRsensor is a device to measure the conductance of the skin. Therefore sintered electrodes are fixed with velcro straps on 2 fingers. A small current is applied to the skin across the electrodes and the resulting voltage drop is measured. The varying output signal of the sensor is proportional to changes in skin conductance. The sensor can be connected to a data acquisition board with ±5 V or to a DC input with ±250 mV. Required frequency response: DC to 20 Hz. The sensor is supplied with a 9 V block battery.

The respiration sensor uses a piezo element to measure the respiration effort. The sensor comes with extension straps with different length and must be fixed around the chest. The sensor does not need any power supply and can be connected directly to a biosignal amplifier like g.BSamp, g.MOBIlab+ or g.USBamp. The 2 output connectors are standard medical safety connectors with 1.5 mm. The output range of the sensor is ±1 mV. Recommended filter settings are: HP: 0.01 Hz, LP: 60 Hz, Notch: on.

The photoelectric pulse sensor can be used for pulse observation. It should be directly connected to the biosignal amplifier input jacks. The sensor can be fixed on the finger, ear, forehead or animal tail. The device needs a 9 V standard block battery as supply and must be connected to a biosignal amplifier like g.BSamp, g.MOBIlab+ or g.USBamp. The sensor has 3 medical safety connectors with 1.5 mm as output.

Applications are pulse wave observations of humans or animals. The output signal has a range of ±5 mV. The following filter settings are recommended: HP: 0.01 Hz, LP: 60 Hz, Notch: on.

The small and lightweight piezo sensor is intended to detect tracheal sounds. It is specifically designed to pick up the frequency range of snoring and it creates clear and reliable tracings. The piezoelectric sensor does not need any power supply and must be fixed with a tape on the subject. The sensor has 3 medical safety connectors with 1.5 mm as output. The output signal has a range of ±5mV and must be connected to a biosignal amplifier.

The g.Microphone is intended to monitor sounds generated in the experimental room. The output range of the device is ±2 mV.

The g.TEMPsensor is a device to measure skin temperature. The varying output signal of the sensor is proportional to the temperature. It is supplied with a 9 V battery and connectable to any data acquisition system with an analog input of ±5 V or ±250 mV. A DC input is required.

The g.FLOWsensor is intended to monitor the changes of temperature of breathing (nose and mouth). It has an integrated battery with a life time of one year. The safety connectors can be connected to a biosignal amplifier with ±20 mV input range.

The g.Gsensor is intended to measure the acceleration/vibration in x-, y-, and z-direction. The measurement range is 3g. The sensor can be connected to a DC input with a sensitivity of ±250 mV or ±5 V.

The g.LIMBsensor is a device to measure the movements of limbs. The sensor has safety connectors and an output of ±50 mV. Power supply is not needed.
