BCI2000: Recent Updates February 2010 |
|
BCI2000 is a general-purpose system designed for BCI and related research that has been in development since 2000. As of early 2010, BCI2000 has been acquired by close to 500 laboratories world-wide (Fig. 1) and has supported experiments in more than 125 peer-reviewed publications or theses (Fig. 2). Many of these papers set new directions in BCI research. The original article that described the BCI2000 system (Schalk et al., 2004) has been cited 266 times (Google Scholar, 02/15/2010), and was recently awarded the Best Paper Award (i.e., the best paper of 2004) by IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering. Currently, the BCI2000 team is finishing BCI2000 version 3.0, which will include improved support for multiple processors and the VisualStudio and MinGW compilers. Furthermore, Springer will soon publish a book on BCI2000 (Fig. 3) that also covers many introductory concepts of BCI research. |
